Digital art is art by mathematics using the computer as the medium. Much of M.C. Escher's work is mathematical art, only he didn't have the benefit of a computer. Most of the images in this gallery have been created from fractals generated using a number of programs:

  • UltraFractal
  • Sterling v1.7
  • Sterling v2
  • Xaos
  • Fyre
  • Tierazon
  • Corel PaintShopPro
  • Photoshop
  • DxO FilmPack

My objective has always been to make an image which I like to look at and continue to get pleasure from. Abstract and colorful. Not to look like a fractal. Pleasing to the eye. Fractals and photos includes a bit of whimsy in the images. Maybe even tell a story.

I don't read textbooks. I am not a member of a photography club or an art studio. I do what comes naturally and gut feeling tells me if I have done well. I like to look at the work of other artists, especially Old Masters, and photographers and learn from them - visually.

I judge my creations, whether photograph or digital or hybrid under the following criteria:

  • Emotional impact
  • Visual impact
  • Subject
  • Composition
  • Technical quality

It's no big deal. If it works it will feel good and can easily be classified accordingly. There are always plenty of failures! Don't tell me to look at a textbook just because you see it differently - perhaps the picture is upside down.

Enjoy the Gallery!
